Glen Canyon Recreation Area
3 hours south of Moab, is the controversial reservoir named Lake Powell. It represents the flooded remains of what many considered the most sublime portion of the Colorado River — Glen Canyon. Today the big lake, a sandstone bathtub some have described as a 'terrible beauty', can be accessed by driving Hwy 191 south through Monticello and Blanding and then west on Hwy 95 and 276 to Halls Crossing.
